Bike to School Day.

Dear Cyclist,
Please
donate! It's easy, fast, and secure. Please give $25, $50,
$100 or what amount you can most afford. Thank you!
For twenty years our program has provided many incentives for thousands
of commuters to travel a better way to travel by bicycle.
By producing a fun, inclusive, informative, and interactive program,
we have many accomplishments:
Growth In Bicycling to School and Work
50% increase in Bike to Work/School (BTW/S) Day participation
over the past 4 years
5,600 kids and teenagers bicycled on Bike to School Day in
2007
28 schools participated in BTS Day through out Santa
Cruz County
Classroom Education & Encouragement
This upcoming spring we'll be working with 8 classrooms
to track student bike trips and distance while teaching math, science
and geography.
Bike to School and Bike Tracking school efforts are combined
with BikeSmart! safety presentations
Building a Positive Public Image for Cycling
Front-page articles and photos on bike commuting
Positive and pervasive coverage included: TV News, Radio
ads, Newspaper & magazine ads, Street banners, Color posters,
brochures & flyers
These efforts contribute to cleaner air, healthier kids, less traffic,
safer streets, and a friendlier community. Bike to Work has accomplished
this with the help of thousands of volunteers, participants, and
supporters. Our work benefits Santa Cruz and now we need your financial
help for Bike to Work to continue to grow.
Bike to Work's goals:
Increase the number of kids, teenagers, students, and adults
biking to work and school
Expand our bike safety education effort
Project a positive and inviting image of bicycling in the
local media and through grassroots outreach
Advocate for improved bicycle facilities
As BTW/S expands, our funding levels (public funds
and business donations) have remained the same. Your individual
donation will help us to grow, which is crucial as Santa Cruz County
is posed to make great strides in bicycle improvements. A 31-mile
Coastal Rail Trail, bike lanes on Soquel Avenue, a permanent two-way
bikeway on Beach Street, and a bike/walking bridge over the San
Lorenzo River are just some of the golden projects which will make
mine and your bike ride so much better. But these advancements will
not come easily. A smart, persistent, and organized local bicycle
advocacy effort is required. A well run and funded Bike to Work
organization will be one of the key forces in making Santa Cruz
an even better place to bicycle.
Please
donate! It's easy, fast, and secure. Please give $25, $50,
$100 or what amount you can most afford. Thank you!

If you prefer to donate with a check, please make payable to "Bike
to Work" and send to: P.O. Box 8402, Santa Cruz, CA 95061.
